Professor Mandeep R. Mehra (USA)
Dr. Mehra is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and serves as Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Center and Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Heart Disease at Brigham Health in Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally, he is Editor-in-Chief, The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. Prior to joining Brigham and Women’s Hospital in January 2012, Dr. Mehra served as the Dr. Herbert Berger Endowed Professor of Medicine, Head of Cardiology and Assistant Dean for Clinical Services at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is an expert in Advanced Heart Failure with special expertise in mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation.
He has authored and published over 400 book chapters, manuscripts, editorials and abstracts focusing on all aspects of advanced heart failure. One important area of his interest is in developing international guidelines for care of the heart transplant candidate and process enhancement for improving performance measure adherence in heart failure.
Dr. Resham Baruah (UK)
Resham is currently a consultant cardiologist working at Chelsea and Westminster and the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trusts with a specialist interest in heart failure and imaging.
She graduated from Imperial College with Distinction in clinical practice, and a first class Honours BSc in cardiovascular sciences. She completed her PhD in periodic breathing and heart failure at Imperial College in 2010.
She is currently undertaking an MSc in Health economics, outcomes and management in cardiovascular sciences at the London School of Economics, which supports her work at the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) where she has just been a specialist technical advisor on the 2018 chronic heart failure guideline update.
She is a mother to two boisterous young boys and in her spare time she volunteers as a school governor at a local secondary school.
